Hello, I’m Dr Pray

Consultant Clinical Psychologist

Originally from Colorado in the United States, I relocated to beautiful New Zealand where I live with my husband and family. My USA-based training was at a nationally recognized trauma centre, where I developed specialty competence with treating trauma and with helping couples build a stronger connection together.

I have since worked in a variety of settings, from private practice and hospital settings, to wilderness-based addictions and residential treatment.  With over 21 years as a clinical psychologist, I bring real-life experience and a deeper understanding of what works.

I particularly enjoy helping couples find greater closeness and learn effective communication patterns, improve sexual functioning, and get the relationship they want with each other. I also assist clients through life transitions, such as divorce, family conflicts, extra-marital affairs, and post natal depression. Our Getting the Love You Want Couples Workshops offer audiences the practical tools to help improve their connection and make positive changes in their relationships.

I specialize in evidence-based therapy, including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Imago Relationship Therapy, Integrative Behavioral Couples Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution Focused, and DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.  I enjoy supervising and training other clinical psychologists and therapists and offering corporate wellness through workshops targeting resilience training at a preventative level.
